Lorient preview: Drifting from European contention

Despite a recent victory over title challenging Lens a few weeks ago, Lorient sit firmly in the middle-of-the-table and sliding away from the top seven and the European qualification spots, following promotion last season.

Their most recent outing saw them stumble to a 1-0 loss away to Toulouse, meaning that they have now managed just one victory, that win against a strong Lens side, in their last six matches across all competitions.

Paris preview: Improved Parisians

Paris FC, with former Nantes boss Antoine Kombouare now at the helm after his recent appointment, have been much-improved as they push themselves into the middle-of-the-table and away from any sort of danger.

The Parisians' entertaining 3-2 victory over a struggling Le Havre side a couple of weeks ago has extended their unbeaten run of form to five matches in Ligue 1, steadying the ship after a difficult winter.

Lorient team news: A few doubts

Lorient are dealing with a few key doubts for this weekend as Tunisia international centre-back Montassar Talbi is potentially sidelined alongside the likes of Igor Silva, Laurent Abergel and Bandiougou Fadiga.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Mvogo; Adjei, Yongwa, Faye; Le Bris, Cadiou, Avom, Kouassi; Makengo, Dermane; Dieng

Unavailable: Toure (Injured)

Questionable: Talbi (Injured), Abergel (Injured), Igor Silva (Injured), Fadiga (Injured)

Paris team news: Matondo suspended

Rudy Matondo is missing through suspension and so Burnley loanee Luca Koleosho will be expected to come in on the left-hand side. Vincent Marchetti is also a fresh injury doubt for the Parisians.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Trapp; Mbow, Coppola, Sangui; Camara, Munetsi, Lees-Melou, Simon; Ikone, Immobile, Koleosho

Unavailable: Matondo (Suspended), Hamel (Injured)

Questionable: Chergui (Injured), Traore (Injured), Marchetti (Injured), Kebbal (Injured)

Lorient vs Paris prediction

Paris have begun to show signs of the potential that they possess after a heavy season of spending as one of the wealthiest clubs in Europe. Lorient, who gained promotion alongside Paris last season, also have a decent backing behind them but do appear to be a bit smarter off the pitch. As the two sides seek to earn bragging rights in their very modern rivalry, both teams scoring may well be a good bet for this one at Stade du Moustoir.

Lorient vs Paris tip: Both teams to score
