Shanelle Dyer: "The Nightmare" looks to make good on Dana White's gamble on her potential

Despite coming up short to Carol Foro on the Contender Series last September, Shanelle Dyer (6-1) still impressed enough to earn herself a contract. While her stock suffered slightly in light of the damage she took against Foro, the former PFL alum is regarded as one of the most exciting female prospects fighting out of England, earning widespread attention for a spectacular head kick KO on PFL Europe 2 back in 2024. A dynamic Muay Thai striker with superb technique and notable power for the flyweight division, “The Nightmare” has scored KOs in all but two of her professional victories. She’s also showed signs of improving wrestling ability from fight to fight, rounding out her overall skillset to nullify any perceived holes in her game.

Ravena Oliveira: "Kenoudy" aims to avoid a third successive defeat under the UFC banner

Looking for her first UFC victory at the third time of asking, Ravena Oliveira (7-3-1) makes the walk to the cage for the second time after returning from a career threatening knee injury that left her on the sidelines for two years. Losing her debut to Tainara Lisboa back in 2023, it wasn’t to be a happy return for “Kenoudy” last time out; Oliveira found herself tapping to a third round Stephanie Luciano rear naked choke to thoroughly ruin her comeback. Arriving in the UFC with a reputation as a KO artist and a 100% finishing rate in victory, Oliveira has yet to demonstrate the form that saw her earn a call up; hardly surprising, considering that the vast majority of her wins came over debuting fighters.

Shanelle Dyer vs Ravena Oliveira prediction

Closing as a considerable favorite and fighting in front of her home crowd, this has all the signs of a Dyer breakout performance.

If this was pre-injury Oliveira, there’s a solid argument to be made that the Brazilian wouldn’t be closing as such a sizable underdog. While she’s almost exclusively fought cans, she has proven KO ability and Dyer was dropped on multiple occasions during her Contender Series bout.

However, while it’s not inconceivable that “Kenoudy” rediscovers her pre-UFC form and lands something big, it appears unlikely. Even if Oliveira does show up in better form, “The Nightmare” refused to quit even after getting hurt badly multiple times by Foro. Demonstrating impressive resolve and composure when many fighters would have looked for an out, she even arguably won the final round.

Notwithstanding what version of Oliveira shows up on Saturday night, Dyer is the more technical, powerful striker; one who has fought considerably stiffer levels of competition throughout her young career. She’s also got considerably less miles on the clock in terms of wear and tear; Oliveira isn’t far removed from an injury that nearly ended her career.

In short, she’s a big favorite for a reason. The pick is Dyer by wide decision; it’s not out of the realms of possibility that she scores a big KO either.

Prediction: Shanelle Dyer to win
