Sunderland vs Stoke Prediction

Regis Le Bris has enjoyed a remarkable first season in charge of Sunderland as the Black Cats chase a surprise return to the Premier League this year as they now face a Stoke City side that have moved onto their third permanent manager of the 2024/25 campaign.

Sunderland come into this one on the back of a slender 1-0 defeat of struggling Portsmouth at the Stadium of Light last weekend thanks to a seventh minute winner from Wilson Isidor. They have stumbled through the autumn and early winter but remain fourth in the second-tier with a vibrant and youthful squad.

Stoke City sacked manager Steven Schumacher in mid-September and his replacement, Narcis Pelach, was sacked last month with former Coventry City boss Mark Robins now in place at the Bet365 Stadium. The Potters are expected to solidify themselves in mid-table this season but, on the face of it, Robins is an impressive appointment.

Sunderland have a young squad and will likely rotate with promotion the priority and that opens the door for Robins, who led Coventry to the semi-finals last year, to spring a surprise.

Sunderland vs Stoke Tip: Double chance – Stoke to win or draw
