Cardiff City vs Wrexham prediction

This has all the makings of a fierce affair as Cardiff City likely come roaring out of the traps full of confidence after having secured an immediate return to the Championship last season. In Wrexham, they meet a team who just missed out on the play-offs on the final day in 2025-26 and will be aiming to finish this campaign in the top six at the very least.

Whilst Cardiff will throw plenty at Wrexham from an attacking point of view, Phil Parkinson has had all of pre-season to lock down his backline and set them up solidly off the ball, capable of repelling waves of opposition pressure. The hosts will need to remain cautious as well because Wrexham can score in multiple different ways, whether it be from set pieces or open play.

Neither will want to suffer a derby defeat to begin their respective Championship campaigns and a point may well be received positively by both. Therefore, consider backing a draw between the Bluebird and Red Dragons.

Cardiff City vs Wrexham tip: Draw
