Ketlen Vieira vs Macy Chiasson prediction
Ketlen Vieira (14-4) is coming off a tough loss at the hands of the surging Kayla Harrison so she will know that there is no margin for error here if she is to remain within touching distance of a title shot. Harrison comfortably won a unanimous decision at UFC 307 in October last year and she is the one getting the title shot next week so Vieira will be determined to get the win here and bounce back.
Vieira has some important wins over good calibre opponents such as Cat Zingano, Miesha Tate and Holly Holm but failing to win here will be costly. She is 3-3 in her last six fights and needs to get the W to stay relevant in and around the title shot range.
She takes on Macy Chiasson (10-3) who has some good momentum behind her coming into this bout. She has won her last two against Piannie Kianzad and Mayra Bueno Silva and those two Performance of the Night displays represented a strong 2024 for her.
These two fighters were due to meet in January 2024 and then in February 2025 but the bout was scrapped both times due to injuries – Vieira the first time and Chiasson the second.
The final get a chance to get it on in the Octagon although Vieira had issues at the weigh-in where she missed weight badly and has forfeited 25% of her purse. It will be interesting to see if that means she has had a poor camp or whether she comes in and benefits from it.
There is not a great deal to separate these two fighters but we marginally prefer Chiasson. She is the more dangerous of the two fighters and has looked much-improved since an 18-month lay-off prior to her return in 2024. We edge her to get the victory here in a close-fought fight.
Prediction: Macy Chiasson to win
