Dominika Salkova vs Mary Stoiana prediction

Dominika Salkova put together one of the performances of the first round with a superb upset of Jessica Bouzas Maneiro.

The world number 126 was rock solid as she secured a 7-5 6-1 victory over the Spanish sixth seed.

The 22-year-old Czech will now tackle Mary Stoiana, 23, after the American beat her compatriot, Claire Liu 6-3 7-5.

This will be their first encounter with little between them in terms of form and ranking, although Mary is currently nine places better off on the WTA ladder.

Salkova’s form in the win over Bouzas Maneiro should not be ignored and she’s good value for a mini upset, but a flutter on it going three could be worthwhile given how closely-matched they appear to be across various criteria.
