Aori Qileng: “The Mongolian Murderer” looks to build on his last win
Aori Qileng (26-12, 1NC) put together arguably the finest performance of his UFC career last time, flatlining Cody Gibson in just 21 seconds. The tall, rangy switch stancer often uses the switch as a disguised step into his offense, and fights light on his feet with accurate fundamental striking, and a sharp 1-2 at range. He has a strong get-up game off his back and a decent chin. One thing to note is his KO loss to Aiemann Zahabi, although Zahabi is a level above, the loss hasn’t aged well given Zahabi doesn’t tend to finish his opponents at the UFC level.
Cody Haddon: Stylish volume boxer looks to put on a show
Cody Haddon (8-1) enters on a six-fight win streak, with a finish in all his fights apart from his last one. His lone pro loss comes off a decision to current flyweight contender Steve Erceg. The 27-year-old BJJ black belt boxer impressed on his debut, outpointing Dan Argueta over three high-paced rounds back in October 2024. His concern is his activity, not competing since back in 2024, two booked fights fell through against Aleksandre Topuria and Malcolm Wellmaker, one of them due to a fractured foot as well. Haddon is a high-volume pressure boxer who can mix to the body and head beautifully, throws knees into his combinations, but can have his hands really low when facing a wrestler.
Aori Qileng vs Cody Haddon prediction
This is a clash between experience and momentum. Qileng has operated at a higher level for longer, and his accuracy of his shots should find a home early, particularly if Haddon chooses to box in his southpaw stance, where the straight will be right there down the pipe if he steps out. I see Qileng securing the first round off his more well-rounded striking.
How quickly will Haddon adapt though? He’s a fighter who has improved as the fights wear on, against Argueta he actually looked sharper defensively in the final round of a dogfight, and his cardio and volume are both great assets. If Haddon starts to read Qileng after the first, he could really start to walk down Qileng with his boxing ability, the later rounds should swing his way.
The ring rust could be a variable worth noting here. Haddon is still young to the game with relatively few pro fights, and that much time on the sideline could be a risk. Assuming Haddon shakes off the cobwebs early, his pace and output across three rounds should make the difference here. I think he digs in, drags Qileng into deep waters, and edges a decision.
Prediction: Cody Haddon to win by decision
