Loma Lookboonmee: Can the Thai striker add to her impressive UFC resume?

Posting a record of 7-3 since joining the promotion back in 2019, Loma Lookboonme (10-4) has quietly carved out a reputation as one of the more well versed strikers at 115 pounds. What the Thai fighter lacks in terms of KO power, she makes up for with timing and technique, leveraging an excellent Muay Thai game to outpoint her opponents to a decision victory; an impressive feat given that she’s one of the most diminutive fighters on the roster at just 5’1. She’s coming off a decision loss to Alexia Thainara last September where she was soundly outwrestled, a result that snapped a four fight win streak.

Jaqueline Amorim: The Brazilian aims to remind the division of the danger she poses

Jaqueline Amorim (10-2) looks to right the ship after a disappointing loss to Mizuki Inoue as a huge favorite last October, her first loss since dropping her debut to Sam Hughes. Prior to that, the 30 year old Brazilian was riding a four fight win streak with all victories coming by way of finish, taking out Polyana Viana, Vanessa Demopoulos, Cory McKenna, and Montserrat Ruiz between 2023 and 2025. An accomplished grappler with eight victories by submission, Amorim has a 100% finishing rate in victory, with eight of those stoppages coming in the very first round.

Loma Lookboonmee vs Jaqueline Amorim prediction

Lookboonme has always been a solid strawweight; prior to her most recent loss to Alexia Thainara, the Thai fighter had only ever lost to solid fighters in Angela Hill and Loopy Godinez. If she’s able to keep this one standing and pepper away at Amorim on the feet, there’s a chance that she could walk away with the victory here.

However, there’s no shirking it; Lookboonme’s takedown defense looked absolutely dismal in her last fight. Thainara is one of the bigger operators at strawweight, but she took down Lookboonme at will, landing five takedowns en route to a unanimous decision victory. Not only will Amorim hunt takedowns at a similar rate, but her precocious submission game arguably poses more of a threat on the ground should the action hit the mat.

Amorim may have gotten pieced up on the feet by Mizuki Inoue, but Lookboonme has yet to even land a knockdown in ten UFC fights to date; as one of the smallest fighters on the entire roster, I don’t see her possessing the necessary power to give Amorim cause for concern. This could conceivably go either way, but we’re leaning towards Amorim’s grappling to carry her to victory, be that via submission or decision.

Prediction: Jaqueline Amorim to win
