Jamie Mullarkey: Can Mullarkey roll the back the years to score a finish as the hometown favorite?

Returning to the UFC after an absence of more than a year, Jamie Mullarkey (17-8) looks to banish the memories of successive KO defeats to Mauricio Ruffy and Nasrat Haqparast. The 31 year old Australian has a reputation as a bit of a glass cannon at this point in his career, and has an unfortunate habit of getting brutally knocked out in most of his defeats. On his best day, Mullarkey is a solid boxer with underrated wrestling ability, boasting wins over the likes of Michael Johnson, John Makdessi, and Francisco Prado. However, his penchant for brawling has got him in trouble in the past, a state of affairs that his latest opponent will no doubt look to exploit.

Rolando Bedoya: Entering this contest on a three fight losing streak, "The Machine" finds his back up against the wall

Arriving in the UFC with a shiny 13-1 record, Rolando Bedoya (14-4) has come crashing back down to earth in jarring fashion since making the jump to the world's biggest MMA promotion. "The Machine" clearly has yet to find his footing in the UFC, a state of affairs that has seen him lose three straight fights to Khaos Williams, Kenan Song, and Jai Herbert. A high output striker who pushes a blistering pace, the 28 year old Peruvian has an iron chin and has never been finished in eighteen professional fights. However, despite his exciting skillset, there's a strong chance that he's fighting for his job on Saturday night.

Jamie Mullarkey vs Rolando Bedoya prediction

In many respects, picking Mullarkey to win an MMA fight in 2025 seems like a terrible call. The battle worn Australian is coming off a considerable layoff, his durability has deteriorated considerably, and he seemingly can't resist a brawl; all things that typically point towards a KO defeat.

However, Bedoya simply doesn't look to be the man to do it. It would be one thing if "The Machine" was a terrifying power puncher, but he's only scored four KOs in his entire career; his last knockout came on the regional circuit back in 2021. As such, while he's undoubtedly capable of chinning his opponent in this one, it's hard to count on it.

Mullarkey may have fallen on rough times in the later stages of his career, but he's also beaten UFC caliber competition, something that his opponent has yet to do. If he can successfully fight the urge to bite down on his mouthpiece and slug wildly in the pocket, he has more avenues to victory.

As with all Mullarkey fights, there's a strong chance that he gets walloped with something vicious and put away in the early goings. However, the (extremely) tentative pick is for the Australian to roll back the years, leaning on his experience and more diverse skill set to walk away with the decision victory.

Prediction: Jamie Mullarkey to win
