Reginaldo Geraldo Jr.: "The Beast" looks to claim another victim

The latest prospect to represent the celebrated Fighting Nerds gym, Reginaldo Geraldo Jr. (11-1) rides a five fight win streak into his first shot at the big leagues. An excellent submission grappler with extremely heavy hands, "The Beast" has only been to the scorecards in victory on two occasions and has never been finished in twelve bouts as a pro. He's been plying his trade in LFA, most recently earning an impressive first round submission victory to secure a shot on this season of the Contender Series. 

Isaac Moreno: Can "Primetime" maintain his undefeated record?

Stepping in for Stefano Paterno on short notice, Isaac Moreno (8-0) arrives on the Contender Series with a shiny undefeated record and five big wins by KO. Turning pro after a flawless amateur career, "Primetime" has fought the majority of his career in Fury FC and has finished his last three fights in the very first round. Fighting out of Primetime Headquarters, Moreno is a methodical striker who likes to pick his opponents apart at range, leveraging a karate background to open up opportunities to find a finish.

This is arguably the best fight on the card, a state of affairs reflected by the tights odds. Both competitors legitimately look to be UFC ready; it’s a shame that one of them is going to have their dreams crushed come Tuesday night.

I’m leaning towards Junior here. Moreno is an excellent striker and conceivably could be the faster of the two men, but he’s also taking this one on short notice against an extremely dangerous, well-rounded opponent. Not only does Junior hit like a truck, but he’s also got an excellent grappling game working in his favor, meaning that he has another avenue to victory if things don’t appear to be going his way on the feet.

In an ideal world, these two slug it out for 15 hard-fought minutes and both earn contracts in an absolute war. However, considering the power on both sides, I think that somebody is going to get finished early here, and when the fight is as close as this one seems, it pays to favour the man who isn’t taking it on short notice. Moreno will be back and I wouldn’t be shocked to see him triumph against the odds here, but the pick is Geraldo by first round stoppage.
