Quentin Pasley: Can the American cash in as a slight underdog?
Best known for planishing Reylan Gracie with a first round flying knee, Quentin Pasley (3-0) looks to punch his ticket to the UFC in the space of less than five fights. Boasting a 100% finish rate, the Fighting Arts Academy prospect turned pro following an undefeated amateur career and has carried his impressive form with him. The American’s three victories have come in the combined time of less than one round of MMA, highlighting his potency as an early finishing threat. Pasley also has experience as a pro boxer, earning a first round KO win in June.
Arlind Berisha: The towering Albanian looks for another highlight reel finish
Undefeated in five fights as a pro, Arlind Berisha (5-0) headlines Week 5 following an array of brutal stoppages on the European regional circuit. Turning pro after a successful amateur career where he went 7-1 and won gold in the IMMAFs, Berisha is an enormous light heavyweight, standing 6’6” tall. He has a 100% finish rate, with his longest fight to date clocking in at 4:46. He enters this bout following a 31 second submission victory in his last fight.
Quentin Pasley vs Arlind Berisha prediction
Considering that both men have never been out of the first round, I don’t think the judges are going to be required here. With that being said, there’s a possibility that this could get real sloppy even if it doesn’t end in an early finish.
It’s also really difficult to gauge just how good these two actually are or how their respective resumes stack up against each other, considering that both fighters have been fighting complete cans on the regional circuit to date. Case in point, neither man has a victory over a fighter with a winning record; I’m not really sure why this one was chosen to headline Week 5, outside of the fact that it’s probably going to end in a brutal KO.
In any case, it’s likely going to come down to whoever can land clean first. In a match between unproven heavy hitters, I’m leaning towards Berisha, based on his size advantage and the fact that he has slightly more experience than Pasley. A win for the American would not come as a stratospheric shock, but whatever the outcome, I highly doubt that this one is going the distance.
Prediction: Arlind Berisha to win by first round KO
