Colton Loud: The American flyweight looks to arrive with a bang

Boasting a 100% finish rate, Colton Loud (7-1) is dangerous wherever the fight takes place, with the American prospect just as capable of scoring a KO as he is a submission. Fighting out of Genesis BJJ, he's finished six of his seven wins in the first round, a state of affairs that reflects his reputation as an extremely dangerous early starter. The 25 year old is coming off back to back d'arce choke submission victories, although it's interesting to highlight that his only loss came immediately prior to this win streak courtesy of the same submission. 

Christian Natividad: Can the undefeated prospect come up big on short notice?

Stepping in for Frank Silva, Christian Natividad (9-0) has been perfect throughout his professional career to date. Training out of the MMA Lab, "The Hawaiian Punch" is primarily a grappler, leveraging a suffocating wrestling game to drown his opponents and overwhelm them. He's fought the entirety of his career in LFA, beating solid levels of competition to underline his potential. However, the primary knock against Natividad is his lack of stoppages; the American has only scored three finishes to date, although it's worth noting that they all came in the space of one round.

Originally scheduled to take on Frank Silva, this is a tough short notice replacement for Loud.

Natividad may not be the most potent finisher out there, but he is a smothering wrestler with an ability to slow the fight down and dictate where the action takes place; namely, with him in mount or on his opponent’s back. He’s undefeated across nine fights as a pro and has fought decent levels of competition in solid regional promotion, LFA.

Loud is likely going to come out as aggressive as he usually does, but if he’s unable to finish Natividad in the early goings, I don’t know if he has the style or cardio to win a decision. He’s never seen a third round in his professional career, whereas “The Hawaiian Punch” has proven his ability to grind his way to a win on the scorecards. We’ve also seen Loud struggle to get up off his back in his only loss to date, a daunting omen when faced with a stylistic matchup like Natividad.

Loud does have a size advantage and could conceivably overwhelm him in the early goings but give me Natividad by decision, even if the prospect of a UFC contract might even entice him to pour on the damage for a late TKO. However, given the Hawaiian’s historical lack of finishing ability, I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if he wins and still fails to earn a contract.
