Stuttgart Preview: No longer stuttering Stuttgart

Stuttgart started the season with a bit of a stutter, naturally, after regressing a touch away from being runners’ up with the sale of some key players over the summer. They have now, though, pushed themselves back into the top six ahead of this match day.

Under the management of Sebastian Hoeness, the home team come into this one on the back of collecting ten points from their last four matches. They most recently eased past a struggling Heidenheim side by three goals to one last weekend.

St Pauli Preview: Finding it tough

Despite losing manager Fabian Hurzeler to Brighton and Hove Albion over the summer, St Pauli have competed well following the appointment of former Royale Union Saint-Gilloise boss Alexander Blessin. They begin the match day sitting outside of the bottom three.

The Hamburg-based club do come into this one on the back of a 2-0 defeat at home to Werder Bremen in their most recent outing last weekend. Dominik Kohn and Marvin Ducksch scored goals in either half for the visitors at Millerntor in that game.

Stuttgart Team News: Undav doubt

Former Brighton and Hove Albion attacker remains an injury doubt for this weekend with a thigh issue alongside fellow key attacker Jamie Leweling. Defender Dan-Axel Zagadou is sidelined alongside El Bilal Toure.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Neubel; Rouault, Chabot, Mittelstadt; Vagnoman, Karazor, Stiller, Fuhrich; Millot, Demirovic, Woltemade

Unavailable: Zagadou (Injured), Toure (Injured)

Questionable: Raimund (Injured), Leweling (Injured), Undav (Injured)

St Pauli Team News: A few injuries

Estonia international defender Karol Mets is sidelined with a knee injury for this weekend alongside both Connor Metcalfe and Elias Saad. As well as those absentees, the likes of Ben Voll and Scott Banks remain key doubts.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Vasilj; Wahl, Smith, Nemeth; Saliakas, Irvine, Boukhalfa, Treu; Sinani, Eggestein, Afolayan

Unavailable: Mets (Injured), Metcalfe (Injured), Saad (Injured)

Questionable: Voll (Injured), Seibt (Injured), Wagner (Injured), Banks (Injured)

Stuttgart vs St Pauli Prediction

Despite a few injury issues, Stuttgart have adapted and been able to put together some good performances and results as they challenge for a potential top six finish. The hosts have some in-form players, notably in attack with Nick Woltemade in particular. St Pauli will seek to counter attack efficiently with Daniel Sinani and Dapo Afolayan and it could be a fun watch for the neutral but Stuttgart are the favourites, especially with their home advantage.

Stuttgart vs St Pauli Tip: Stuttgart to win & both teams to score
