Cesc Fabregas and Martin Demichelis make their UEFA Champions League managerial debuts as Como welcome RB Leipzig to Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.

Como preview: Cesc’s Como

The ambitious and big spending Como took just two seasons of top-flight football to finish in the top four and qualify for the UEFA Champions League – and they have started this season well again with seven points collected from their three games.

Cesc Fabregas’ hosts come into this one on the back of back-to-back wins on the road against Napoli and Genoa, the latter being a 4-1 hammering at the weekend with a brace scored by Assane Diao as well as goals from Martin Baturina and Nico Paz.

RB Leipzig preview: Mixed start

Following the surprise appointment of Martin Demichelis, who oversaw the relegation of Real Mallorca in La Liga last season, RB Leipzig have started the 2026-27 Bundesliga season with a win and a defeat thus far.

After an impressive 3-0 defeat of Borussia Monchengladbach at the Red Bull Arena in their opener, Leipzig then succumbed to a 3-1 defeat to likely relegation battlers Werder Bremen at the Weserstadion at the weekend.

Como team news: Nothing fresh

There are no fresh injury concerns for Como to deal with this weekend, with Jayden Addai still sidelined, and they have an abundance of options in attack such as the aforementioned Diao, Baturina and Paz, as well as Tasos Douvikas and Moise Kean.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Butez; Couto, Jacobo, Chalobah, Valle; Perrone, Da Cunha; Diao, Paz, Baturina; Douvikas

Unavailable: Addai (Injured)

Questionable:

RB Leipzig team news: Key injuries

Star summer signing Rocco Reitz began life in Leipzig well but he sustained a thigh injury at the weekend and so is now unavailable alongside key Austria international attacker Christoph Baumgartner.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Vandevoordt; Baku, Orban, Esteve, Raum; El Aynaoui, Seiwald, Banzuzi; Bakayoko, Nkunku, Nusa

Unavailable: Reitz (Injured), Baumgartner (Injured)

Questionable: Lukeba (Injured), Ouedraogo (Fitness), Gruda (Injured), Romulo (Fitness)

Como vs RB Leipzig prediction

There are reservations over Martin Demichelis’ quality as a manager, having perhaps been unfortunate at Mallorca but nevertheless been relegated before a poor performance from Leipzig against Werder the other day. Como will fancy themselves to take the game to the Germans this week and there is a good chance they continue their rise by kicking off their first ever European campaign with a victory.

Como vs RB Leipzig Tip: Como to win
