Scotland manager Steve Clarke has announced his 26-man squad for FIFA World Cup 2026.

Billy Gilmour has now been ruled out of the tournament and replaced by Manchester United midfielder Tyler Fletcher.

As the Tartan Army head to their first FIFA World Cup in 28 years, Steve Clarke has now officially named his 26-man squad for the trip to North America – but there is no room for Hull City striker Oli McBurnie.

The former Las Palmas and Sheffield United frontman has been very impressive for the Tigers, who are Championship playoff finalists this season, but, having not played for the Scots since March 2021, he has been overlooked in favour of Southampton striker Ross Stewart, who it appeared was a 50/50 call with McBurnie to replace the now injured Tommy Conway.

The controversial pick in the attacking regard will remain that Australia-born Lyndon Dykes has again been selected by Clarke. Admittedly, the former Queens Park Rangers man did finish the season reasonably well at Charlton Athletic. Their other attackers feature Torino’s Che Adams, Hearts man Lawrence Shankland and key Ipswich Town forward George Hirst.

The big names for the Scots come further back in their side, though, and particularly in the middle of the park with Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay and Aston Villa captain John McGinn the stars alongside the likes of Ryan Christie and Lewis Ferguson.

Andrew Robertson, set to depart Liverpool this summer, remains the skipper with a familiar feeling defensive setup, albeit now with Wrexham centre-back Dom Hyam in the mix. 43-year-old 83-cap Craig Gordon is again in the squad and he has a good chance of being the first-choice, too, ahead of Angus Gunn and Liam Kelly.
