Lone’er Kavanagh: English sensation looking to make his mark on debut

After earning his place in the UFC thanks to a stunning knockout in Dana White’s Contender Series, Lone’er Kavanagh (8-0) is now looking to make his mark on his debut in the promotion. The talented 25-year-old has looked highly impressive in his seven bouts so far with four knockouts, one submission and two decision wins. There is plenty of hype around him, but he will know he has to raise his game now he is in the big time.

Jose Ochoa: Unbeaten Peruvian 23-year-old makes debut in Octagon

Jose Ortiz (7-0 with one no contest) comes into this bout with as much intrigue as Kavanagh but there is less hype around him given the fact he is from South America. He has been on an absolute tear so far in his short career with all seven wins come via stoppage including six knockouts. None of his fights have ever gone to the third round and the young talent will be looking for a stoppage right from the first bell.

Lone’er Kavanagh vs Jose Ochoa Prediction

This is a really interesting flyweight bout between two newcomers that come into their UFC debuts with unbeaten records.

It is always difficult to assess newcomers into the organisation especially younger talents with very few fights behind them.

All the hype is with Kavanagh but Ochoa may be underestimated here. He clearly has knockout power and he is unlikely to change the way he fights. Kavanagh figures to be that bit more rounded however while possessing good power himself. That sees us marginally favour the Englishman but approach this one with caution.

Prediction: Lone’er Kavanagh to win
