Kazakhstan have been declining for a while as they now welcome an improving Wales side to the Astana Arena this weekend, coached by former captain Craig Bellamy.

Kick-off date/time:

How to watch on TV: UK – BBC One / US – FOX Sports

How to watch online: UK – BBC iPlayer / US – Disney+

Key stats

  • Kazakhstan have won only one of their last 24 World Cup qualifying matches (D7 L16).
  • Kazakhstan are aiming to win a World Cup qualifying match in Kazakhstan for the first time since a 2-1 victory against the Faroe Islands on 6 September 2013.
  • Wales have lost only one of their last 13 World Cup qualifying matches (W8 D4). That was the 4-3 defeat away from home against Belgium in their most recent fixture on 9 June 2025.
  • Wales have not failed to score in their last ten World Cup qualifying matches.

Kazakhstan vs Wales prediction

Kazakhstan come into this one on the back of suffering a 1-0 defeat at home to North Macedonia in their third qualifying game in the 2026 FIFA World Cup in mid-June. The Kazakhs had defeated Liechtenstein away from home by two goals to nil but they are declining and going through a major change of the guard.

They now face a Wales side that, coached by Craig Bellamy, have put in some excellent performances, but they have often flattered to deceive. They came close to a crucial point last time out as they fought back from 3-0 down to get back to 3-3 in Belgium in June, before then conceding a late Kevin De Bruyne winner.

The Welsh will head east looking to continue to play with their newfound verve and, up against a bizarre and inexperienced Kazakh squad, Wales should win quite comfortably.

Kazakhstan vs Wales tip: Wales to win -1 handicap
