After emerging in Brazilian football with his professional career beginning at Fluminense, Roger Ibanez was initially brought to Europe by Atalanta but couldn’t break into Gian Piero Gasperini’s side before moving to Roma a year later. With the Giallorossi, Roger Ibanez continued to establish himself as an impressive centre-back in Serie A ahead of a big-money move to Saudi Arabia, joining Al Ahli in 2023. He has since gone on to win back-to-back AFC Champions League trophies in Asia and is a part of an impressive quintet of central defenders for Brazil, alongside Marquinhos, Gabriel, Bremer and Leo Pereira.
