A late call-up, Ederson has been brought into the Brazil squad as a result of Roma right-back Wesley being forced to withdraw due to injury. Linked with Manchester United, it is a surprising selection for Carlo Ancelotti to make with Ederson, a box-to-box midfielder, replacing a full-back. The 26-year-old, who will be 27 mid-way through the tournament, has been excellent in Serie A for the last couple of years and may well find himself playing a bit more often. He joined Atalanta after a brief stint with Salernitana in 2022 and is another example of the excellent recruitment of the Bergamasci.
