Unfortunate to be behind the talismanic figure of Emiliano Martinez in Argentina’s goalkeeping stocks, Juan Musso has enjoyed a second half to this season at Atletico Madrid. With Atletico’s ‘number one’ Jan Oblak injured in the spring, Musso was excellent when he stood in, perhaps the best understudy to Oblak that there has been at the Metropolitano. He won’t be Argentina’s first-choice ’keeper this summer but the world champions would be in safe hands if Martinez, who has been prone to injury in the last couple of years, does miss out on a game or two.
