Having won the Golden Glove on Argentina’s way to winning the FIFA World Cup in Qatar in 2022, producing an excellent and famous last-gasp save to deny Randal Kolo Muani deep into extra time in the final, Emiliano Martinez remains his country’s ‘number one’ for this summer. The Aston Villa goalkeeper helped The Villans finish fourth and qualify for the UEFA Champions League this season, as well as win the UEFA Europa League, despite suggestions he may depart the club last summer. There have been some repeated injury issues for the 33-year-old to deal with in that time but he seems set to go at the start this summer.
