Cristian Romero is a controversial figure with the Tottenham Hotspur club captain receiving a lot of criticism for his conduct towards the back end of Spurs’ relegation fight. He succumbed to an injury against Sunderland in mid-April that saw his season curtailed early but the former Atalanta defender has achieved full fitness ahead of the FIFA World Cup. At his best, like he showed in Spurs’ run to winning the UEFA Europa League, he can lay claim to being one of the very best centre-backs in the Premier League and was crucial in Argentina’s FIFA World Cup 2022-winning campaign.
