On the periphery of things in terms of minutes, or at least likely to be, Facundo Medina provides a flexibility and versatility for Lionel Scaloni in defence. The 27-year-old Olympique de Marseille defender, on loan from Lens, is capable of playing in the centre of defence as well as at left-back, and even at wing-back should Scaloni feel the need to do so. He made his Argentina debut back in 2020 but has barely featured in the meantime before finding his way back into the squad for the trip to North America this summer.
