Akbar Abdullaev (13-0) brings his undefeated record to the Contender Series as the former ONE Championship fighter aims to live up the hype.
He has not fought in over a year after being cut following a series of releases by the ONE Championship promotion but he now has a golden chance to earn a shot in the Octagon.
Abdullaev takes on Ednilson Barros (14-7-1) who is a late replacement for Urijah Faber’s standout Anthony Figueroa who had to withdraw from this opportunity.
The Brazilian has plenty of experience and this is a huge chance for him to earn a shot in the UFC.
It may well be a step too far for him however especially against such a talent in Abdullaev.
Abdullaev should have far too much quality for him and while Barros has a punchers’ chance, we expect Abdullaev to ultimately overwhelm him and get the late stoppage.
