It is the first game of a new era at Molineux as rock-bottom Wolverhampton Wanderers welcome a difficult to beat Crystal Palace side to the midlands this weekend.

Wolves preview: Edwards in at Wolves

Wolverhampton Wanderers come into this one on the back of a managerial change over the November international break with former Luton Town boss Rob Edwards, who departed a Middlesbrough side second in the Championship, being appointed.

Wolves went into the November international break manager-less and on the back of a 3-0 hammering at the hands of an unconvincing Chelsea side at Stamford Bridge. They have collected just two points from their 11 matches so far this season.

Crystal Palace preview: Solid Palace

Crystal Palace have suffered just three defeats in 18 matches across all competitions so far this season with the 2024/25 FA Cup winners sitting tucked inside the top-half of the Premier League table ahead of this weekend.

The Eagles were left frustrated in their most recent outing as they shared a fairly tedious goalless draw against arch-rivals Brighton and Hove Albion at Selhurst Park a couple of weeks ago.

Wolves team news: Agbadou returns from suspension

Rob Edwards will be without goalkeeper Dan Bentley as well as Leon Chiwone, Rodrigo Gomes and experienced Republic of Ireland international defender Matty Doherty for his opening game in charge.

He will be able to field centre-back Emmanuel Agbadou, who has returned from a one-match suspension, with Wolves expected to stick with Edwards' back three system.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Sa; S. Bueno, Agbadou, Toti; Tchatchoua, Andre, J. Gomes, Bellegarde, H. Bueno; Strand Larsen, Hwang

Unavailable: Bentley (Injured), Doherty (Injured), Chiwone (Injured), R. Gomes (Injured)

Crystal Palace team news: Fully fit

In his pre-match press conference, Oliver Glasner has confirmed the blessing and rarity that Crystal Palace have a fully fit and available squad for this weekend with Marc Guehi having returned to training earlier this week.

That means longer term absentees Chadi Riad and Cheick Doucoure are both now finally available alongside former Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Henderson; Richards, Lacroix, Guehi; Munoz, Wharton, Hughes, Mitchell; Sarr, Pino; Mateta

Unavailable:

Questionable:

Wolves vs Crystal Palace prediction

The one issue for Oliver Glasner’s style of football at Crystal Palace is that they are set up to expose and exploit a team that seek to dominate the game and provide space for the visitors. That is not likely to be something afforded to them against a Wolves side, now with the generally reactive style of Edwards, desperate to avoid yet another defeat, and so this may be a low-scoring encounter at Molineux.

Wolves vs Crystal Palace tip: Under 2.5 goals
