Werder Bremen preview: Hammered in their opener
Werder Bremen started the 2026-27 Bundesliga campaign with a 4-1 hammering at the hands of last season’s UEFA Europa League runners’ up Freiburg, with Japan international Yuito Suzuki striking a hat-trick.
Werder were involved in a relegation battle last season and, under the management of Daniel Thioune, another struggle down at the bottom end of the table is to be expected once again.
RB Leipzig preview: Comfortable win
Over the summer, RB Leipzig took the fairly surprising decision to appoint former Real Mallorca boss Martin Demichelis, with the former Manchester City centre-back having overseen Mallorca’s relegation from La Liga last season.
