Venezuela vs Colombia prediction

Facing Argentina in what was likely to be Lionel Messi’s final competitive home game in national colours was always going to be a difficult task for Venezuela, and so it proved with the world champions winning 3-0 in Buenos Aires.

Despite that defeat, Fernando Batista’s side currently occupy the inter-confederation play-off spot, and they will finish in that position should they win here. Even a draw or defeat wouldn’t spell the end of their hopes, as Bolivia – a point behind them – must defeat Brazil in their final qualifier to stand any chance of leapfrogging them.

It perhaps goes in Venezuela’s favour, then, that visiting Colombia have already qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. A 3-0 win over Bolivia last time out sealed their spot, and was most welcome given that it was their first win in seven qualifiers.

A draw will be enough for Venezuela, and already-qualified Colombia are unlikely to push too hard here.

Venezuela vs Colombia tip: Draw
