Parma preview: Poor Parma

In the summer, after being defensively solid, Parma lost key men such as Zion Suzuki and Alessandro Circati and that has hurt their solidity with coach Carlos Cuesta being sacked and replaced by Alberto Gilardino in the international break.

Parma’s defence has been hit and their attack hasn’t really evolved either as they head into this one on the back of a 2-1 defeat to in-form Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico at the weekend in a result that flattered the hosts in the capital city.

Udinese preview: Struggling Udinese

At the time of writing Kosta Runjaic remains in charge of Udinese but pressure is growing on the former Legia Warsaw boss with six successive defeats since starting by collecting four points from their opening two matches in Serie A.

The Friulians come into this one on the back of a 2-0 defeat to still domestically unbeaten AC Milan at the Bluenergy Stadium at the weekend due to goals scored by Christian Pulisic and Omari Hutchinson.

Parma team news: A few absentees

Parma have a few absentees for this one as Lautaro Valenti is sidelined alongside Hans Nicolussi Caviglia and Pontus Almqvist with Nesta Elphege unavailable due to appendicitis.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Corvi; Diego Carlos, Troilo, Drobnic; Del Prato, Ordonez, Sierro, Keita, Valeri; Romero, Toure

Unavailable: Valenti (Injured), Caviglia (Injured), Almqvist (Injured), Elphege (Illness)

Questionable:

Udinese team news: Zanoli and Solet out

Udinese have some fresh injury absentees for this week as defender Oumar Solet has been ruled out alongside versatile midfielder Alessandro Zanoli.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Okoye; Abankwah, Kabasele, Palma; Vojvoda, Piotrowski, Karlstrom, Kamara; Chakvetadze, Ekkelenkamp; Davis

Unavailable: Alaba (Injured), Solet (Injured), Zanoli (Injured), Bayo (Injured), Gueye (Injured)

Questionable:

Key stats

  • This fixture is almost dead level in Serie A since 1994/95: Parma W20 D11 Udinese W17, with Parma scoring 71 and Udinese 69.
  • Parma won the last meeting 1-0 in Udine in April 2026, but Udinese have won the last two at the Tardini (3-2 in September 2024 and 2-0 in November 2025).
  • Parma have won 14 of their 24 home games against Udinese (D4 L6). Their biggest win is 4-0 in September 1997; Udinese's is 4-0 in Udine in September 2004.
  • The meetings have averaged 2.92 goals, and the highest-scoring was Parma's 4-3 win in May 2004.

  • Parma's four points is their joint-second-worst start after eight games since 1994/95 – only 2014/15 (three points) was worse.
  • Udinese have lost six consecutive Serie A games and have conceded in ten straight. Their last win was 3-2 at Monza on 29 August.
  • Udinese are winless in six home games and have failed to score in their last two (0-3 v Lecce, 0-2 v Milan).
  • Parma have scored only five goals, the fewest in Serie A, and have lost their last three (Inter, Torino, Lazio).
  • Parma's only win this season was 2-1 against Genoa at the Tardini on 20 September. They have conceded in eight consecutive league games.
  • Udinese have conceded 18 goals in eight games, an average of 2.25 per game, joint-second most in the division with Monza.

Parma vs Udinese prediction

Udinese have punched towards the top half and the European spots in the last few seasons but the Friulians have instead underwhelmed this time around, stagnating still under the ownership of the Pozzo family. Parma themselves are not necessarily a team setup to punish too much frailty and so this may not be a thriller for the neutral at the Ennio Tardini.

Parma vs Udinese tip: Under 2.5 goals
