Nazim Sadykhov: Can "Black Wolf" recover from his first UFC setback?

Returning in the wake of his first defeat under the UFC banner, Nazim Sadykhov (11-2-1) was 4-0-1 in the promotion prior to running into Fares Ziam last December. A technically proficient kickboxer with great cardio and solid grappling, “Black Wolf” had finished all but one of his previous UFC opponents prior to the TKO against Ziam, with a hard fought draw against Viacheslav Borschev serving as his sole setback in the promotion to date. Originally scheduled to face MarQuel Mederos in April before the bout fell through, Sadykhov gets the chance to fight in front of an adoring home crowd instead.

Matheus Camilo: "Jaguar" aims to build on his first win under the UFC banner

1-1 since joining the promotion, Matheus Camilo (10-4) looked decent in his most recent appearance, but it’s hard to put much stock in a win over what remained of Viacheslav Borshchev.  Prior to that, “Jaguar” endured a rough debut against Gabe Green, getting slammed and choked out as a moderate favorite after seemingly locking up a submission early. However, Camilo is still raw at the age of 25 and clearly has space to grow. While his losses on the regional circuit aren’t the best look, he’s still a great grappler with a relatively high finishing rate, earning six finishes in ten professional wins.

Nazim Sadykhov vs Matheus Camilo prediction

Sadykhov may have been destroyed by Fares Ziam last time out, but he’s still very good. A 2023 draw with Viacheslav Borshchev was not a good look, but he’s finished all five of his UFC wins inside the distance, negating dangerous opponents like Terrance McKinney, Chris Duncan, and Ismael Bonfim in the process.

Camilo might have beaten Borshchev last time out, but “Slava Claus” had completely fallen off a cliff in the aftermath of his draw against “Black Wolf," going 1-4 en route to receiving his walking papers. Moreover, the Brazilian’s overall resume pales in contrast to Sadykhov’s. He was finished twice on the regional circuit and is 1-1 under the UFC banner; Camilo got choked out by Gabe Green in his only other bout with the promotion, a fighter who “Black Wolf” would likely handle in short order.

Sadykhov is the considerably better striker of the two men, boasting legitimate KO power and landing at a much higher clip than Camilo. He’s no slouch on the ground either, an ill omen considering that looks like “Jaguar’s” clearest route to victory. I see the Azerbaijan native winning this one by finish, either piling on the damage to score a TKO or reversing position following a Camilo takedown to find the submission.

Prediction: Nazim Sadykhov to win by stoppage
