St Gallen vs Benfica prediction
St Gallen finished second in the Swiss Super League last season. That is their best finish since winning their second league title back in 2000. They didn’t qualify for Europe last season, reaching the league phase of the UEFA Europa Conference League in the 2024-25 campaign.
Benfica have lost manager Jose Mourinho to Real Madrid and replaced him with former Fulham boss Marco Silva this summer. They went through the Primeira Liga campaign unbeaten last year but finished third. Now, with Silva at the helm, they will be expected to play more of a front foot style here.
St Gallen will be aiming to make the league phase of the UEFA Europa Conference League, accepting that this is a very tough test against the Lisbon giants.
