Despite defeats to Benfica and AFC Bournemouth in the UEFA Europa League, AC Milan had remained strong in Serie A after the appointment of Ruben Amorim in the summer but their eight-match unbeaten start to the campaign was ended in midweek.
Up against Bologna, the Rossoneri did half a 2-1 half-time lead in midweek but they eventually succumbed to a 4-2 defeat to frustrate supporters as they now begin the match day knocked out of the top four and the UEFA Champions League spots.
Inter Milan preview: The defending champions
Internazionale begin the weekend sitting at the top-of-the-table but only above the impressive Lazio on goal difference with the Nerazzurri having won eight and drawn one of their nine matches so far this season.

AC Milan vs Inter Milan prediction
Despite an impressive start to the defence of their 21st Scudetto in terms of results so far this season, Inter’s performances have remained fairly concerning and that was even the case in midweek against the struggling Venetians. That should give AC Milan some confidence here and the fallibility of both teams defensively means that both teams scoring may well be a decent bet for this one as Milan seek to bounce back and Inter continue to iron some creases out.
