Bologna have found some form in the last week or so as they now come up against a competitive but open Monza side at the Renato Dall’Ara on Saturday.

Bologna preview: Getting victories

Bologna come into this one on the back of an impressive performance as they defeated the domestically unbeaten AC Milan by four goals to two at San Siro, with Werder Bremen loanee Samuel Mbangula notching a hat-trick for the visitors.

Bologna headed into that defeat of the seven-time European champions off the back of an impressive and comfortable 2-0 defeat of one of this season’s surprise packages, Cagliari, at the Unipol Demus in Sardinia.

Monza preview: Hammered in midweek

Following their promotion to the top-flight last season, Monza have been impressive in terms of their style of football, as shown by the fact that they have scored 16 goals in nine matches, but that openness was exposed in midweek.

Up against an underperforming and under pressure Napoli side at Stadio Brianteo, Monza succumbed to a 4-1 hammering at the hands of the Neapolitans, despite having got themselves level at half-time.

Bologna team news: A few absentees

Bologna are dealing with a few injury absentees for this one and they are now without defender Lorenzo De Silvestri due to a thigh injury with Jay Enem having suffered an Achilles injury, too.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Skorupski; Darmian, Casale, Theate; Zortea, Ferguson, Pobega, Alhassane; Berandeschi, Odgaard, Mbangula

Unavailable: De Silvestri (Injured), Holm (Injured), Enem (Injured), Orsolini (Injured), Piccoli (Injured)

Questionable:

Monza team news: Folorunsho out

Former Napoli midfielder Michael Folorunsho is a fresh injury absentee for the visitors alongside Yvan Maye, Jan Ziolkowski and the experienced Matteo Pessina.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Tornqvist; Goglichidze, Lucchesi, Bakoune; Birindelli, Foe Ondoa, Colombo, Mangas; Ngonge, Robinson; Varela

Unavailable: Maye (Injured), Ziolkowski (Injured), Pessina (Injured), Folorunsho (Injured)

Questionable:

Bologna vs Monza prediction

Monza have been a fun watch throughout the campaign with their 16 goals scored contributing to the fact that the visitors’ nine Serie A matches have now consisted of 38 goals in total. Bologna appointed the conservative Domenico Tedesco over the summer but their best performances have come when playing in a more proactive manner and so a fun watch for the neutral may well be a decent bet for this one.

Bologna vs Monza tip: Over 2.5 goals
