Shuai Zhang vs Maria Timofeeva prediction

Shuai Zhang comes into this one on the back of a straight sets defeat to Ann Li in the second round of the Cincinnati Open earlier this month. The Chinese had reached the fourth round of the Toronto Open before losing 2-0 to Aryna Sabalenka.

Maria Timofeeva has qualified for the first round of the Monterrey Open with hard-fought victories against Lanlana Tararudee and Kamilla Rakhimova. Timofeeva has never won back-to-back matches at full WTA events.

Timofeeva will be expected to be competitive here but the 22-year-old remains a major underdog here with Shuai Zhang the firm favourite for this one.
