Back in the top-flight, previously fallen giants Schalke now play their first home game back in the Bundesliga with defending champions Bayern Munich making the trip.

Kick-off date/time:

How to watch on TV: UK – Sky Sports / USA – ESPN

How to watch online: UK – Sky Go / USA – ESPN+

Schalke preview: Comfortably beaten

In their opening game back in the Bundesliga, Schalke succumbed to a 3-0 hammering at the hands of Augsburg last weekend with the game tight mid-way through the second half before Ron Schallenberg was sent off to allow Augsburg to ease to their victory.

Former Plymouth Argyle boss Miron Muslic took charge of Schalke last summer and he led them back to the Bundesliga as 2. Bundesliga champions last year – completely expecting to comfortably survive and re-establish themselves in the top-flight.

Bayern Munich preview: Brilliant Bayern

Bayern Munich started their defence of the title once again with a 5-1 demolition of a strong Stuttgart side at the Allianz Arena last weekend with a Josha Vagnoman own goal as well as strikes from Dayot Upamecano, Michael Olise, Luis Diaz and Aleksandar Pavlovic.

The Bavarians had started their competitive season by beating Borussia Dortmund in the DFL-Supercup before then hammering Osnabruck by four goals to one, having gone behind early on due to a Robin Meissner stunner early on in the DFB-Pokal in midweek.

Schalke team news: Schallenberg suspended

Due to his red card last weekend, the aforementioned Ron Schallenberg is now missing through suspension with fellow key midfield Kenan Karaman still working his way back to fitness.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Karius; Becker, Katic, Kurucay; Adamu, El Faouzi, Tanaka, Becker; Ljubicic, Aouchiche; Sylla

Unavailable: Schallenberg (Suspended)

Questionable: Gantebein (Injured), Lasme (Injured), Karaman (Injured)

Bayern Munich team news: Still no Musiala

Jamal Musiala has not been involved due to feinting twice in pre-season and he remains likely unavailable here as Serge Gnabry works his way back to full fitness, too.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Neuer; Laimer, Upamecano, Kim, Davies; Kimmich, Pavlovic; Olise, Luis Diaz, Brown; Kane

Unavailable: Buchmann (Injured)

Questionable: Musiala (Illness), Gnabry (Fitness)

Schalke vs Bayern Munich prediction

Miron Muslic is a coach that gets his players to buy into his ideas with enthusiasm and energy. They will likely use that energy to be fairly conservative, as they largely were against Augsburg at 11v11. Bayern Munich, though, are not the usual team they will face in the Bundesliga. Goal scoring record breakers last year, Bayern have already scored 11 goals in three games across all competitions this season and, with Harry Kane having gone without a goal against Stuttgart, they should ease to another comfortable win at the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen.

Schalke vs Bayern Munich tip: Bayern Munich to win -1 handicap
