Roman Andres Burruchaga advanced to his second tour-level semi-final of the season as he defeated compatriot Camilo Ugo Carabelli in three sets. Burruchaga controlled the final set to win 6-2 2-6 6-3. He had lost his two previous matches to Ugo Carabelli this season in Rosario and Rio, but Burruchaga can now look forward to a semi-final against Daniel Merida.
The Spaniard produced a strong display to beat Titouan Droguet in straight sets. Merida did not concede a break point as he won 6-1 6-3. He also won 86% of his first serve points. He will now be aiming for his second final on the ATP Tour, having achieved the feat at the Bucharest Open in April.
This is their first official ATP meeting, but Merida did win their only previous match on the Challenger Tour. He is yet to drop a set this week, and if he can maintain his level in this one, he will be difficult to stop.
