Jakub Mensik vs Lukas Neumayer prediction
Jakub Mensik advanced to the round-of-16 in Shanghai last time out, following wins over Miomir Kecmanovic and Francisco Cerundolo. That was Mensik’s first ever victory over Cerundolo after three previously failed attempts. The Czech looked set for a deep run at the event but then lost in straight sets to Arthur Gea. Mensik advanced to his first ever Grand Slam semi-final at Roland Garros, but he has just one quarter-final appearance since then.
He faces Lukas Neumayer in round one. The 24-year-old qualified after impressive straight set wins over Vit Kopriva and Titouan Droguet. He has won two Challenger titles this season, but a tour-level victory has eluded him. Neumayer is currently ranked 168 in the world.
Mensik will look to win plenty of points behind his first serve, and he is by far the more established player of the two. The 21-year-old will be expected to win in straight sets.
Jakub Mensik vs Lukas Neumayer tip: Jakub Mensik to win 2-0
