Luca Van Assche vs Learner Tien prediction
Luca Van Assche reached his fourth tour-level quarter-final of the season at the Lyon Open. He was involved in an epic last eight match with Lorenzo Musetti, which lasted over three and a half hours. Van Assche eventually lost 7-6 6-7 6-4. The Frenchman won his first ATP Tour title in Estoril, while he has won four Challenger events.
He faces Learner Tien in Vienna. The 20-year-old struggled during the Asian swing, with two losses from three matches. Tien reached the final of the China Open last year, but he suffered a first-round exit against Hubert Hurkacz this time around. He then lost in the third-round to Casper Ruud in Shanghai. Tien has still enjoyed a strong year, with a title in Geneva and his first ever slam quarter-final at the Australian Open right at the start of the campaign.
Tien has demonstrated greater consistency at ATP Tour level, but Van Assche’s indoor record and competitive performances in Lyon make him a genuine threat.
