Marcelo Gallardo’s River Plate come into this one on the back of a 3-0 hammering of Barracas Central in the Argentine Primera Division at the weekend thanks to goals from Paulo Diaz, Ignacio Fernandez and Marcos Acuna. They are now unbeaten in their last 14 matches across all competitions.
Independiente del Valle, under the management of Javier Rabanal, have begun their 2025 CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores group stage campaign with a victory, a defeat and two draws in their opening four matches. The Ecuadorians most recently defeated Tecnico Universitario by two goals to one in the Ecuadorian LigaPro at the weekend.
Despite the fact that the visitors are a steadily impressive side, River Plate would have to be viewed as firm favourites for this one, especially in Buenos Aires.
