Real Valladolid preview: Woeful Valladolid

Having gained promotion to the top-flight last season, Real Valladolid have endured a difficult 2024/25 La Liga campaign with just four victories in their 36 matches under now Watford boss Paulo Pezzolano and former Mexico manager Diego Cocca amid off-field issues.

President and owner Ronaldo has claimed he wants to sell the club but is reportedly simply ignoring offers as supporters protest. They most recently suffered a 1-0 defeat to Girona in midweek at Estadio Jose Zorrilla.

Alaves preview: Fighting Alaves

Deportivo Alaves gained promotion back to the top-flight in the 2022/23 campaign and they managed to achieve a top-half finish last season. The manager, Luis Garcia Plaza, then had them once again clear of the drop in early-December 2024 but was still sacked.

He was replaced by former Celta Vigo boss Eduardo Coudet as they head into the final two games of the campaign sitting four points clear of the drop. They earned a vital victory in midweek as they defeated Valencia by a goal to nil thanks Joan Jordan’s 79th minute penalty.

Real Valladolid team news: Chuki a doubt

Key player Chuki is a doubt for Real Valladolid this weekend. They also have a long list of key injury absentees, too, such as defensive trio Joseph Aidoo, Javi Sanchez and David Torres as well as defensive midfielder Stanko Juric.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Hein; Candela, Cumart, Ozkacar; Anuar, Mario Martin, Grillitsch, Henrique; Sylla, Juanmi Latasa, Raul Moro

Unavailable: Aidoo (Injured), Javi Sanchez (Injured), David Torres (Injured), Juric (Injured)

Questionable: Chuki (Injured)

Alaves team news: Nothing fresh

There are no fresh injury concerns or suspension issues for Alaves to deal with this weekend so they will be able to name an unchanged eleven for this one. They do remain without Moroccan centre-back Abdel Abqar due to a hamstring injury.

Predicted XI (4-1-4-1): Antonio Sivera; Tenaglia, Garces, Santiago Mourino, Manu Sanchez; Antonio Blanco; Carlos Vicente, Jon Guridi, Ander Guevara, Carles Alena; Kike

Unavailable: Abqar (Injured)

Questionable:

Real Valladolid vs Alaves prediction

Real Valladolid have been genuinely appalling throughout the campaign, both on and off the pitch, and their defeat to Girona in Castile y Leon the other day means that they have now suffered ten successive defeats and they have collected just one point in 17 matches. They now face an Alaves side that have been improved of late as they fight against the drop and they will be extremely confident of getting themselves over the line and securing their top-flight status here.

Real Valladolid vs Alaves tip: Alaves to win
