Racing Club, coached by Gustavo Costas with former Internazionale striker Diego Milito as president, most recently hammered Colo Colo by four goals to nil in this competition a couple of weeks ago, to back up a defeat of Atletico Bucaramanga in Colombia by the same scoreline a fortnight earlier.
They now face a Fortaleza side that come into this one on the back of a 2-0 loss at home to Cruzeiro in the Brazilian Serie A at the weekend. That means the visitors have managed just two victories in their last 15 matches across all competitions, with the aforementioned Atletico Bucaramanga able to leapfrog them in the top two.
Despite there being a lot more riding on it for Fortaleza this midweek, Racing Club are clear favourites for this one, given the form of the two sides and Racing’s home advantage.
