Key stats
- Poland lead the head‑to‑head in the 15 previous international meetings between the sides, with ten wins to Albania’s two and three draws. However, Albania did win the most recent encounter — a 2-0 home victory in EURO 2024 qualifying in September 2023.
- Poland have won six and drawn one of their seven previous international matches at home against Albania.
- Poland are aiming to reach a third consecutive FIFA World Cup™, which would mark their tenth appearance at the tournament. They booked their place at Qatar 2022 via the play-offs, defeating Sweden 2-0 in the final.
- Poland have lost only two of their last 16 World Cup qualifying matches (W11 D3) and remain unbeaten in their five most recent outings (W3 D2).
- Poland have lost only one of their last 17 home World Cup qualifying matches (W13 D3).
- Poland have scored in their last 22 World Cup qualifying matches.
- Albania are aiming to qualify for the FIFA World Cup™ for the first time in their history.
- The Albanians have recent major tournament experience, having qualified for two of the last three editions of the UEFA European Championship, including the 2024 instalment of the continental showpiece.
- Albania have won their last two away World Cup qualifying matches 1-0, and they are aiming to record three consecutive away victories for the first time.
- Albania were unbeaten in six successive World Cup qualifying matches (W4 D2), before their 2-0 home defeat to England on 16 November 2025, their final fixture of the group stage.
Poland vs Albania prediction
Poland come into this one on the back of an entertaining but slightly concerning 3-2 defeat of Malta in their most recent outing back in November. They are a side built to frustrate stronger sides, like back-to-back 1-1 draws with the Netherlands, but lacking the attacking cohesion and fluency to comfortably defeat so-called minnows.
They now face an Albania side that, still under the management of Sylvinho, managed to see off rivals Serbia to finish as runners’ up to England in their group in qualifying. The Albanians most recently lost 2-0 at home to England, a few days after they had secured second place with a 1-0 defeat of Andorra.
Albania’s recent relative success has been built on defence – and Poland’s lack of fluidity in the final third should ensure this isn’t the greatest watch for the neutral.
Poland vs Albania tip: Under 2.5 goals
