In the first-leg of this UEFA Europa League second qualifying round tie at Stadion Pojlund in Croatia last week, Hajduk Split defeated Pafos by two goals to nil due to goals scored by Michele Sega and Dario Melnjak.
Pafos reached the league phase of the UEFA Champions League last season but, having finished fourth in the Cypriot First Division last season while winning the Cypriot Cup, they have massively regressed, also losing some key players. Hajduk have often underperformed in UEFA competition but they have an excellent opportunity to progress and guarantee the league phase of either this competition or the UEFA Europa Conference League this week.
A year ago, Pafos would have fancied themselves to turn things around but now Hajduk will be confident of seeing the Cypriots off in this second-leg at the Stelios Kyriakides Stadium.
