Paderborn are still searching for their first Bundesliga win of the season, whilst Hoffenheim overcame that hurdle last weekend.

Paderborn preview: Still winless

With three matches having now been played, there is cause for concern when it comes to Paderborn, who are still yet to score in the Bundesliga. Since their goalless draw against Mainz, Paderborn have since fallen to defeat at the hands of both Freiburg and most recently Borussia Dortmund by four goals to nil.

The likes of Philippe and Pieringer in attack need to be fed the ball more if Paderborn are to break their scoreless duck. Fans will be expecting a strong attacking performance here at home and hopefully a first victory.

Hoffenheim preview: Finally on the board

Hoffenheim have not had the start to the campaign they would’ve hoped for under Christian Ilzer. They came out the wrong end of a pair of three goal to two thrillers against both FC Cologne and Borussia Dortmund and defensively had been very poor. However, Ilzer’s men took advantage of facing a Stuttgart side last time out, likely fatigued following their Champions League exploits.

Adam Hlozek’s brace proved to be the difference as Hoffenheim reacted well to Stuttgart equalising by securing a 2-1 victory in Sinsheim. Now it’s about following that up with another positive result, this time on the road.

Paderborn team news: Couple of late checks

Eickel and Michel are both doubts for Paderborn and a late call will likely be made as to their availability. Awortwie-Grant, Gayret and Klaas are all out.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Noll; Ter Horst, Scheller, Hansen; Curda, Ulrich, Castaneda, Vidovic, Obermair; Philippe, Pieringer

Unavailable: Awortwie-Grant (Injured), Gayret (Injured), Klaas (Injured)

Questionable: Eickel (Injured), Michel (Injured)

Hoffenheim team news: Prass the one doubt

The versatile Alexander Prass is the only doubt for Hoffenheim, with Ilzer having a full-strength squad to choose from.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): Baumann; Coufal, Kabak, Hajdari, Rots; Conte, Avdullahu, Burger, Daghim; Lemperle, Hlozek

Unavailable:

Questionable: Prass (Injured)

Paderborn vs Hoffenheim prediction

The attacking struggles of Paderborn are well documented and this is a good chance for Hoffenheim to take advantage of that. Goals haven’t been an issue for Hoffenheim, defending has been and that should be easier here against an opponent who have had their issues offensively, not scoring yet this season in the Bundesliga.

When you compare the squads of these two teams, Hoffenheim’s is clearly stronger and their depth off the bench could prove decisive here. In the end, back them via the double chance market to come away from Paderborn with at least a draw, if not victory.
