Hoping to distance themselves from their humiliating EFL Cup exit, Man Utd face another potential stumbling block in the form of Scott Parker's Burnley.

Man Utd preview: Amorim in trouble

Man Utd appear to be at an all-time low right now, with Ruben Amorim facing serious scrutiny off the back of a hugely underwhelming start to the season.

Despite significant investment in the squad over the summer, the Red Devils have taken just a point from their opening two Premier League games, and suffered EFL Cup embarrassment midweek when they were eliminated by League Two side Grimsby.

Burnley preview: Points on the board

Burnley's first home game since returning to the Premier League was a triumphant one with Josh Cullen and Jaidon Anthony both on target in a 2-0 victory over fellow promoted side Sunderland last weekend.

The Clarets then edged out Derby in the EFL Cup on Tuesday, Oliver Sonne scoring an injury-time winner after Rams midfielder Bobby Clark had cancelled out Aaron Ramsey's opener.

Man Utd team news: Goalkeeper conundrum

With Andre Onana failing to impress in goal against Grimsby, Altay Bayindir - hardly convincing himself - could return between the sticks. Lisandro Martinez and Noussair Mazraoui are the only known absentees at present.

Amorim will be tempted to start the experience Harry Maguire at the back, while Benjamin Sesko could receive his first Premier League start.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Bayindir; Yoro, Maguire, Shaw; Diallo, Casemiro, Fernandes, Dorgu; Mbeumo, Cunha; Sesko

Unavailable: Martinez (Injured), Mazraoui (Injured)

Burnley team news: Trio back fit

Jordan Beyer, Connor Roberts, Zeki Amdouni and Manuel Benson are unavailable, although Beyer and Roberts are expected back at some point in September.

Axel Tuanzebe, Bashir Humphreys and Armando Broja all got some much-needed minutes under their belt in the EFL Cup and are available for selection. Parker, meanwhile, may stick with a four-at-the-back system after he reverted from a back five in the aftermath of his side's opening weekend defeat to Tottenham.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Dubravka; Walker, Ekdal, Esteve, Hartman; Ugochukwu, Cullen; Larsen, Mejbri, Anthony; Foster

Unavailable: Beyer (Injured), Roberts (Injured), Benson (Injured), Amdouni (Injured)

Man Utd vs Burnley prediction

Despite apparently receiving the backing from the powers that be, there is talk that Amorim is in serious trouble should he fail to inspire his side to victory here. Refusing to deviate from his desired 3-4-2-1 system, it is clear that many of his personnel are still not comfortable with the set-up, but time is surely running out for his methods to bed in.

Boasting a watertight defence in the Championship last season, Burnley will relish the opportunity to thwart such illustrious opponents. Whether they succeed over the 90 minutes remains to be seen, as despite Man Utd's collective shortcomings, there is undoubted talent in their squad capable of making match-winning contributions.

With a massive amount of pressure coming at them from the Old Trafford faithful though, the hosts would settle for an ugly win right now.

Man Utd vs Burnley tip: Under 2.5 goals
