Real Mallorca are still just about, somehow, in contention for European qualification as they welcome an out of form and ‘on the beach’ Getafe side to the Balearic Islands this weekend.

How to watch on TV: UK – Premier Sports / US – ESPN have the exclusive rights to La Liga games in the USA, so Mallorca vs Getafe may be televised on one of their affiliated channels

Mallorca preview: Must win for Mallorca

Real Mallorca come into this one on the back of a dramatic 2-1 defeat to a disjointed and injury ridden Real Madrid side at the Bernabeu in midweek in a game in which they took the lead in the 11th minute before Los Blancos won the game in second-half stoppage-time via Jacobo.

The Balearic Islanders, coached by Jago Arrasate, have still been limited in terms of goal scoring despite a slight tweak to their style away from all-out directness. They begin the penultimate match day of the campaign sitting a point outside of the top eight and the European spots.

Getafe preview: Spoiling the party

Jose Bordalas has once again produced an aggressive and hostile Getafe side that, in terms of actual football, can often, if not always, be tedious to watch and yet still somehow remain entertaining just to see how far they can push the limits of football’s rules.

The visitors aren’t yet definitely safe but are basically safe and have been on the beach for that reason for a while with their 2-0 loss to Athletic Club at the Coliseum in midweek meaning that they have now endured six successive defeats and haven’t scored in their last five games.

Mallorca team news: Nothing fresh

There are no fresh injury concerns for the Majorcans to deal with this weekend as experienced striker Abdon remains unavailable. Both Manu Morlanes and Robert Navarro are working their way back from hamstring injuries, too.

Predicted XI (3-4-1-2): Leo Roman; Valjent, Antonio Raillo, Copete; Mateu Morey, Costa, Sergi Darder, Johan Mojica; Dani Rodriguez; Muriqi, Larin

Unavailable: Abdon (Injured)

Questionable: Manu Morlanes (Injured), Robert Navarro (Injured)

Getafe team news: Couple of suspensions

Ahead of the trip to Son Moix this weekend, Getafe are dealing with a couple of key defensive suspensions such as Juan Berrocal and the versatile Djene. They are sidelined alongside experienced striker Juanmi.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): David Soria; Jorge Iglesias, Domingos Duarte, Omar Alderete, Diego Rico; Ramon Terrats, Luis Milla, Mauro Arambarri, Carlos da Costa; Alvaro, Uche

Unavailable: Juan Berrocal (Suspended), Djene (Suspended), Juanmi (Injured)

Questionable:

Mallorca vs Getafe prediction

As mentioned, Mallorca have struggled for goals this season even with their more progressive style of football. They have managed to notch just 34 times in their 36 games this season with only Real Sociedad, Real Valladolid and upcoming opponents Getafe having scored fewer. Getafe are out of form, Mallorca are not convincing and both sides lack goals so it may be painful to watch for the neutral but the hosts must surely remain favourites with the carrot of European football still dangling.

Mallorca vs Getafe tip: Double chance – Mallorca to win & under 3.5 goals
