Torreense join a small list of clubs who will play Europa League football despite not playing in their country’s top flight. Wigan Athletic and Birmingham City in England are perhaps the most notable example, having won the FA Cup and League Cup respective, which led to them playing in the Europa League whilst being in the Championship. Torreense’s triumph in the Taca de Portugal will see them do the same in 2026-27 after failing to gain promotion from the Portuguese second tier.
Lillestrom can’t afford to take Torreense lightly though. The visitors have made a habit recently of defying the odds and defensively, they’ll be very tough to breach. It would be no surprise to see Lillestrom frustrated from an attacking point of view and goals could be difficult to come by. Therefore, backing under 2.5 goals across 90 minutes warrants serious consideration.
