Lazio are in danger of missing out on European football altogether and yet they could still make the top four, too, as they welcome relegation-battling Lecce to the Stadio Olimpico this week.

Lazio preview: Pushing for the UCL

Lazio, coached by Marco Baroni, head into the final day of the 2024/25 Serie A season sitting sixth in the table but just two points behind Juventus and one behind Roma as the former go to relegation-battling Venezia, whilst the later travel to Turin to face Torino.

The hosts have drawn three of their last four matches, most recently coming from behind twice to share a 2-2 draw with title challenging Internazionale at San Siro last weekend with former Spain international winger Pedro notching a brace for the Romans.

Lecce preview: Relegation-battling Lecce

Lecce begin the final day of the campaign sitting just above Empoli on the head-to-head rule but a defeat for Lecce and an Empoli victory against fellow battlers Hellas Verona would see Marco Giampaolo’s Lecce relegated to Serie B this weekend.

The visitors gave themselves a real chance of survival last weekend as they defeated Torino by a goal to nil at Stadio Comunale Via del Mare in Apulia with defensive midfielder Yasir Ramadani scoring the only goal of the game early in the first-half.

Lazio team news: A few injuries

Lazio are dealing with a few injury issues ahead of the visit of Lecce to the capital city this weekend. Defenders Patric and Manuel Lazzari are sidelined for the hosts, whilst former Arsenal full-back Nuno Tavares remains a doubt for Baroni’s side.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Mandas; Marusic, Gila, Romagnoli, Gigot; Guendouzi, Rovella; Isaksen, Matias Vecino, Dia; Valentin Castellanos

Unavailable: Patric (Injured), Lazzari (Injured)

Questionable: Tavares (Injured)

Lecce team news: Several issues

Lecce’s key striker Nikola Krstovic remains an injury doubt for the visitors alongside midfielder Balthazar Pierret. They also have a few key injury issues, whilst Tete Morente is unavailable due to suspension for Lecce.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-): Falcone; Guilbert, Gaspar, Baschirotto, Gallo; Coulibaly, Ramadani; N’Dri, Helgason, Rebic; Kaba

Unavailable: Jean (Injured), Joan Gonzalez (Injured), Marchwinski (Injured), Tete Morente (Suspended)

Questionable: Pierret (Injured), Krstovic (Injured)

Lazio vs Lecce prediction

Lazio are hovering just below the top four and the UEFA Champions League spots. The Romans will need favours from elsewhere and could even drop out of Europe altogether if they lose and Fiorentina defeat Udinese in Friuli. They face a Lecce side that have been woeful for a while now but did take advantage of Torino last weekend. Lecce will fancy their chances of at least scoring and attacking in Rome but Lazio remain the favourites for this one with their home advantage.

Lazio vs Lecce tip: Lazio to win & both teams to score
