Fresh off successfully defending their Serie A Women's Cup title with a penalty shoot-out victory against Roma, Juventus begin their league phase campaign hoping for history to repeat itself given that they defeated Benfica on Matchday 1 last season.

The Turin side went on to reach the knockout phase play-offs last term, where they lost 2-4 on aggregate to two-time champions Wolfsburg. They had finished eighth in the inaugural league phase having collected ten points.

Isaac Guerrero, appointed Juve boss in July this year, successfully navigated his side through qualifying, overseeing victories against Torreense (2-1) and Hammarby (3-1) before a 4-1 aggregate success against St. Polten.

Benfica did not fare as well in the 2025-26 Women's Champions League, beginning with that defeat to Juve and ultimately picking up just two points as they finished in 16th place.

The Portuguese side did, however, secure their sixth successive domestic title last season, and they have begun the current campaign with two league wins from two.

It was a brace from unlikely source Cecilia Salvai who helped Juve win 2-1 in the equivalent fixture last season, and you have to think the Italian side should have the edge again. There isn't a massive amount between the teams but Juve possess just a little more star quality in the key areas of the pitch.
