Jakub Mensik vs Joao Fonseca Prediction

Jakub Mensik has already been eliminated after losing his two matches so the Czech starlet comes into this match with little motivation and nothing but pride to play for. It has been a disappointing event for Mensik who started slowly and has not recovered from the surprise loss to Learner Tien in the opening match. He had no answer to Arthur Fils on Thursday getting demolished in straight sets and it is hard to make a case for him here against Joao Fonseca.

The Brazilian, who is the youngest player in the tournament this week, has won both of his matches and is playing incredibly well. He showed that his opening win over Arthur Fils was no fluke as he comprehensively outplayed Tien on Thursday.

Fonseca is already through to the semi-finals but he will not want to ease off the gas too much here. That often happens with the senior players in the equivalent tournament but one senses that is less likely with the younger players.

Mensik will be playing for pride and would love to get a win under his belt but he is just as likely wanting to get the match out of the way so he can start preparations for 2025. It is hard to make a case for anything other than another Fonseca win here.
