Jaime Faria vs Lorenzo Sonego prediction
Jaime Faria qualified for his first ever Wimbledon after three wins in qualifying. He defeated Kyrian Jacquet in four sets in the final stage. The Portuguese is not experienced on the grass but did come away with a credible quarter-final appearance at the Nottingham Open on the Challenger Tour, defeating third seed Brandon Holt in the process.
There has been an improvement in Lorenzo Sonego’s performances on the grass but without the results to show for it. He got off to a poor start in Stuttgart as he lost in the first-round but he defeated Jan-Lennard Struff in Halle and pushed world number three Alexander Zverev all the way in the round-of-16. It took a stunning serving performance from Zverev to get through despite Sonego’s best efforts. He ended his preparations for Wimbledon on a tame note with a defeat to Ugo Humbert in the second-round of Eastbourne.
Sonego made the fourth-round here four years ago and will be the heavy favourite to defeat the qualifier.
